The elected officials of Haute-Maurienne Vanoise during their communication, by videoconference
The elected officials of Haute-Maurienne Vanoise gathered on the tracks of Modane station, without danger since no more trains are running. They will not be at 4 p.m. in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, where the Minister of Transport has planned to meet local elected officials.
We regret that the minister did not think he could come here
Jean-Claude Raffin, Mayor of Modane
“We regret that the Minister did not think he could come here, although it had been announced to us the day before”, declares Jean-Claude Raffin, Mayor of Modane, speaking on behalf of everyone, “it is not so that we can pay tribute to the elected officials who, since Sunday, have been on the ground”. He mentions the fuel that will soon run out, the supply of supermarkets, the uncertainties about school transport: “convoys [organisés depuis La Praz, avec des poids lourds de capacité réduite]it will only work for a while”.
At first, assures Jean-Claude Raffin, only he and the president of the Community of communes Haute-Maurienne Vanoise had been invited to the meeting of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, before obtaining that the mayors of Le Freney and Saint-André, first concerned, are added to the list. None of them will finally see Clément Beaune.
Asked whether the ministerial choice did not stem from a greater interest in the international transport situation than in that of Haute-Maurienne and its 8,500 inhabitants, Jean-Claude Raffin replied: “What are the most international city and community of municipalities? It’s Modane and Haute-Maurienne Vanoise”.
