The outgoing socialist mayor Karine Traval-Michelet finds her seat at the head of a union list of the left which borders on 50% in a triangular. His opponents do not surprise after sowing confusion in the campaign for the second round.
His good score in the first round foreshadowed the best for the union list of the left, environmentalist and citizen “Esprit Colomiers”, led by the outgoing socialist mayor Karine Traval-Michelet. It therefore logically retains the town hall, improving its result by almost 10 points compared to 2014. With 49.53% of the vote, its list “Esprit Colomiers” obtains thirty seats on the municipal council against five on the list “Live better in Colomiers “(28.02%) from Patrick Jimena and four to that of Damien Laborde” Let’s dare another story “(22.36%).
“It is a great satisfaction and a great pride for our whole team”, comments Karine Traval-Michelet. “It is the victory of clarity, consistency and hard work. It is also a victory that engages with a lot of responsibility in a context that will not be easy. The six years ahead will be complex in the face of the hard crisis that awaits us. “
Mobilization of the electorate
In the second round, yesterday, the outgoing majority list “Esprit Colomiers” even managed to improve its score. Despite a record abstention, it totaled 450 more votes than in the first round with 466 fewer voters. “We see a mobilization of our electorate on the second round,” adds Karine Traval-Michelet. “But also a loss of the voices of our competitors in the face of turpitude which agitated the second round and demobilized their voters”.
While he was close to winning in 2014, Patrick Jimena was at the heart of a psychodrama between the two rounds. The merger of his list with that of ex-LREM Eric Kaczmarek was experienced as a betrayal by some of his running mate. His faithful traveling companion Alain Refalo even criticized him for not wanting to become mayor of Colomiers before getting angry and sitting in a group opposing the municipal council. If he did not make friends, Patrick Jimena also did not win many votes in this marriage of carp and rabbit. His list “Living better together in Colomiers” does not even make a point better than in the first round. The list “Reconcilions Colomiers”, led by Eric Kaczmarek was however supposed to bring him 6% more voters. Again, runners on the initial list found the electoral maneuver stunned. Number 2 before the merger, Charlotte Caron openly denounced the betrayal and condemned the method. A method that the Columérins did not support either by sanctioning it rather harshly.
Possible withdrawal of D. Laborde
With a score of 22.36%, Damien Laborde who led the list “Let’s dare another story” improves by 2% his score of 2014. Too low satisfaction for the departmental and community councilor who sits in the municipal opposition for two terms . Supported by La République en Marche, this entrepreneur, member of the Agir movement, reflects on the follow-up that he must give to his political career. At 38, despite his young age, he could even give up sitting in the next municipal council and withdraw from political life.
