The little soldiers of the oval balloon are on the war footing. This Monday morning, at the Toulouse regional hotel, 339 apprentices gathered around the 2023 rugby world cup trophy to discuss with Claude Atcher, director general of the competition. Supported by Kamel Chibli, vice-president of the region in charge of Education and Youth and Sports, Mr. Atcher presented the apprenticeship training center Campus 2023, which he considers as “a unique project in the sport “.

The regional vice-president argues on the local establishment of a device of such magnitude. “It is a culmination for the region to be part of this plan,” he begins. For a land of rugby like ours, being the host of five World Cup matches is a great source of pride ”. The selection of 3,000 apprentices – including 439 in Occitanie – out of the 7,000 applications across France was made with the participation of Pôle Emploi. The goal of these training courses ranging from bac + 1 to bac +5: to promote the oval ball and train young people in different sectors. The three types of training available (sport, tourism and safety) guarantee everything necessary to manage massive sporting events. “This program also makes it possible to identify the financial and material needs of the various clubs and to act,” argues Claude Atcher.

Immersion in the professional world

“These young people aged 18 to 30 will have the right to solid support,” comments the general manager of the World Cup in France. “They will be assigned two coordinators to follow their progress. Regional gatherings will also be organized. Finally, apprentices will get a foothold in major events with systematic inclusion in the Campus 2023 project, ”he says.
