Maria Hauser was the only junior competing today at the World Championships for U19, U23 and Elite Athletes in St. Catharines, Canada (18-25 August 2024) – and successfully so.
With second place in the A/B semifinal of the junior women’s singles, Maria Hauser moved into the A final and thus secured the eighth A final with Austrian participation at this mega world championship. “Maria showed us a fantastic race here. She is one of the younger athletes, but the way she approached the race with confidence and the nerves of steel she showed were really strong. She didn’t let anything go wrong along the course and safely finished second. A really strong race, a strong performance from her.”“, says ÖRV U19/U23 national coach Anna-Maria Götz. In the A final tomorrow (8:39 p.m./CET) the ÖRV athlete will face competitors from Germany, South Africa, Romania, Brazil and China.
In the late session of the World Championships, the A-finals of Lara Tiefenthaler (8:43 p.m./CET) and Julian Schöberl (9:00 p.m./CET) in the lightweight singles, as well as of Paul Ruttmann and Konrad Hultsch (9:32 p.m./CET) in the lightweight pairs are still to be held today.
