Hatebook? CyclingClaude hat Sendepause! – CyclingClaude

The time has come. CyclingClaude has a break on Facebook. For longer? Certainly. Forever? Maybe.

As of today, there will be no updates on the CyclingClaude Facebook page. Maybe at some point I’ll take the site off the social media platform entirely.

Why why why?

Several reasons come together.

Facebook no longer offers the reach it used to, as long as you don’t pay for Facebook advertising. Since CyclingClaude is purely a hobby project, I don’t want to buy reach on Facebook.

Facebook participants are fed up. They are flooded with content and who is not better, more beautiful or hornier than others receives little attention.

Facebook consists of 90% open or hidden advertising and a lot of fake news. If I share my own blog post in a Facebook group, the content of which contributes to a discussion, there are people who accuse me of promoting my blog. Exactly my sense of humor!

Some people on Facebook believe they can tell me how to express myself as a blogger. “As a blogger with reach, you should actually … blah, blah, blah”. If my opinion of a person does not fit, I find it presumptuous when a person tries to tell me what to think, like, write or publish. After all, I don’t live off this person’s free consumption. But even if I did, my opinion would be and remain my opinion.

Why is a Facebook page needed when subscribers hardly interact and some only appear once a year – whenever there is something to complain about? A like is difficult, constructive comments bring work, but the keyboard glows when criticized or indignant.

Incidentally, I don’t feel like having to justify myself for everything.

Maybe it’s just because I don’t crack enough flat jokes and share sharepics? Maybe, but that’s not my style. So I apologize if I haven’t met your taste.

Oh yes, let’s not forget my private profile on Facebook. I am in favor of climate protection, as well as against the law. Homophobia is as foreign to me as xenophobia. I gender with a colon. This is my decision. If I get criticized by old, white men for this, I’ve hit the spot. But if I am taught at the same time that people are changed with asterisks, but not with a colon, because * radiates in all directions and the word “someone” is no longer used because it means * human, it is time to get back from Hatebook to pull. Accordingly, the posts in my private profile are only visible to friends. We’ll see whether all Facebook friends will stay on my friends list in the long term.

You can still find me on Twitter, just like on Insta. You can find the links at the top of the page, behind the icons. The blog and podcast will continue to exist, even if I would like more feedback, more comments, more ratings (on Apple Podcasts) here and there.
