Prince Harry has decided to sue the newspapers of the Mirror group, accusing them of having illegally collected information concerning him, “to stop the hatred” against his wife Meghan. Harry himself said this on the second and last day of testimony in the High Court in London. To win the case, the son of King Charles and Princess Diana must prove that the illegal activities admitted by the Mirror Group newspapers were conducted to target him, including by illegally listening to his voicemails. Former Daily Mirror reporter covering the royals, Jane Kerr, admitted in court that she worked with private detectives to obtain personal details such as telephone numbers and addresses of people the newspaper was to contact.
“It didn’t occur to me that anything was illegal, the main thing was to check that the story was accurate,” he said in court. There are still more than two weeks left before the trial ends and the appearance of witnesses and closing statements is expected. But there are no plans for Harry to appear in court again. All of England, including the royal family, are watching the London courtroom closely.
