PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto denied the general chairman’s greeting Megawati Soekarnoputri, to Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok with the nickname ‘my best friend’ in commemoration of the 49th anniversary of PDIP related to the 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election (Pilgub).
“So it has nothing to do with the 2024 gubernatorial election,” Hasto said during an online press conference, Monday (10/11).
However, he conveyed, Megawati has the authority to choose a cagub figure that will be carried by PDIP in the upcoming 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election. According to him, Megawati could have brought Ahok back.
“If Mrs. Megawati wants to appoint Mr. Ahok, that is Mrs. Megawati’s authority,” he said.
He continued, Megawati and Ahok are indeed friends. According to him, Ahok is an outstanding figure who has become a victim of the 2017 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election.
Hasto also said that Megawati and Ahok’s closeness has entered into a very substantial matter, namely related to planting trees to Bangka’s special food.
“So the mention of a friend is indeed a friend, especially since we saw that Ahok was a victim during the Jakarta election. We saw that Ahok’s achievements were extraordinary, including in building an extraordinary mosque,” said Hasto.
“The achievement in assertiveness in dealing with various forms of power conspiracies that want to use power to obtain capital, Pak Ahok has the courage to face that,” he continued.
Previously, Megawati greeted Ahok with the nickname ‘my best friend’ in commemoration of the 49th anniversary of PDIP. When opening her political speech, Megawati checked the invitees who were present virtually. He also looked for Ahok who reportedly had joined online.
