Secretary General (Secretary General) PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto advised the prospective vice presidential candidate for the Coalition for Change, Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin when giving a speech at the inauguration ceremony for Professor Ma’mun Murod, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ).
On that occasion, Hasto mentioned Cak Imin, who had previously mentioned Amin – the abbreviation for Anies Baswedan and Cak Imin in his speech at the event. Hasto admitted that he had no problem with this, as long as Cak Imin did not manipulate the law at the Constitutional Court (MK).
“You can campaign, Cak Imin, here. The important thing is not to manipulate the law at the Constitutional Court,” said Hasto, greeted by laughter from the guests at UMJ, South Tangerang, Thursday (9/11).
On that occasion, Hasto also assessed that Cak Imin was smart in taking advantage of chances and chances. He then brought up the time when Cak Imin was officially appointed as Anies Baswedan’s vice presidential candidate at the beginning of last September.
“Because Cak Imin is not only a friend, he is an expert at seeing opportunities. As soon as Mr. Jokowi let his guard down a little, he immediately declared with Mr. Anies,” he said.
The Constitutional Court recently became the public spotlight after granting a lawsuit regarding the requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates to be at least 40 years old or have been a regional head at the city/district or provincial level.
The Constitutional Court’s decision sparked polemic because it was seen as paving the way for President Joko Widodo’s son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Masinton believes that Indonesia is experiencing a constitutional tragedy after the Constitutional Court’s decision.
Currently, Gibran has officially registered himself as a candidate for vice presidential candidate who will accompany Prabowo Subianto in the national political contestation next year.
Most recently, the Chairman of the MKMK, Jimly Asshiddiqie, in his ruling, Tuesday (7/11) stated that the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Anwar Usman, was proven to have committed a serious ethical violation in a material test case related to the requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates from regional head elements.
According to Jimly, Anwar was proven to have opened up space for outside intervention in making decisions in case number: 90/PUU-XXI/2023. Anwar was then removed from his position as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.
Now, Judge Suhartoyo has been elected as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court to replace Anwar Usman. The meeting to elect the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court was held behind closed doors at the Constitutional Court Building, Central Jakarta, Thursday (9/11).
