Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto explained the reason his party did not want to cooperate with the Democratic Party and PKS in 2024. Hasto explained at length the reasons PDIP limit with PKS and Democrats.
“PDI-P respects the position of PKS and Democrats who are outside the government. In the speech of the PKS National Working Meeting, we can see the criticism given to Pak Jokowi and it is in accordance with the scope of PKS which criticizes the government as check and balances in democracy. It’s not good with various ideological differences, we don’t take a political stance on cooperation with PKS,” said Hasto at the Jakarta Convention Center, Saturday (6/25/2022).
Hasto emphasized that the current position of PDIP is to support President Jokowi. He said that it was impossible to cooperate with parties who actually contradicted Jokowi.
“And at this time the position of the PDI-P supports Pak Jokowi, so it is also impossible for us to cooperate with Pak Jokowi, and at the same time there are parties who continue to attack Pak Jokowi’s government and then carry out a campaign,” he explained.
“We also have to see Pak Jokowi’s leadership as the consistency of the PDI-P’s attitude. So apart from ideological differences, we respect the position of PKS which is outside the government but shows cooperation with PKS in terms of ideological aspects, historical aspects, there are things that are indeed different,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hasto also explained the reason PDIP could not be together with the Democratic Party. Hasto even mentioned the condition of Indonesia under the leadership of President SBY at that time.
According to him, there were differences in the government system under SBY with that of Sukarno and Megawati. Both foreign policy and defense policy.
“Meanwhile, with Democrats, it is not only related to historical aspects. We can carry out a process of rationalization of the past by looking at the interests of the future. But when what was done by Mr. SBY’s government for 2 periods, is it also in accordance with what was promised to people?” he said.
