Jörgen Flink, management strategist and one of the initiators of investing in more available defibrillators in Trelleborg municipality, began the opening by saying that Trelleborg municipality is at the forefront in this area after the municipal company TrelleborgsHem installed new defibrillators on its properties last winter.
– Now there are around sixty defibrillators outdoors around Trelleborg and these are available to everyone around the clock. It also means that central Trelleborg is one of the areas in Sweden that has the closest distance between each defibrillator, said Jörgen Flink.
Hasse Andersson, who is also an ambassador for the Hjärtuppropet initiative, thanked Trelleborg for the municipality leading the way for more available defibrillators around the clock.
– I am proud that Skåne is taking the lead when it comes to available defibrillators.
The defibrillators placed on TrelleborgsHem’s properties outdoors
TrelleborgsHem’s defibrillators are placed outdoors on their properties. In this way, more than their tenants can have access to the defibrillators.
– We want to work with security for our tenants, said Ricardo Klemensson.
As a former emergency nurse, municipal manager Gisela Öst knows how important it is to quickly have access to a defibrillator in order to save lives.
– Every second counts!
Gisela Öst also wants more municipalities and regions to join hands with Trelleborg municipality to invest in more defibrillators in society.
– It is together with other actors that we can make this work possible, said Gisela Öst.
At the same time, she took the opportunity to hand over a big heart to Sofia Barnell, unit manager at the technology and real estate department in Lomma municipality, who is taking over the symbolic baton for the work to make more defibrillators available to everyone.
After that, Björn Jadeland and Niklas Waldenström told about the initiative Härtuppropet, which works for more people to learn CPR and for more defibrillators to be available in society, around the clock.
– Out of 6,000 people who have a cardiac arrest every year, only 600 survive, but if everyone is helped, the chances are greater that more will survive, said Björn Jadeland.
