Every Olympic day we start with the program. When will the Dutch be in action? What else is going to happen? Follow everything in our live blog and via a livestream. Today day 16. Click here for the full program.
The very last day and then the Olympic Games are over. Day sixteen starts at 8:00 with the women’s marathon, in which Sifan Hassan and Anne Luijten participate for the Netherlands.
Hassan has set herself the goal of becoming the first woman ever to win an Olympic medal in three running events in Paris.
Two are already in: she won bronze in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters. She only ran the latter distance two (!) days ago. After such a medal race, many a runner could use a recovery training, instead of going all out on a distance that is four times as long.

Hassan, 31, herself reacted matter-of-factly to her two previous races: “They are nothing. The real race is yet to come. The marathon is my biggest goal.”
Hat trick for Harrie?
Today is also the day of the triptych for Harrie Lavreysen. After the gold in the team sprint and the individual sprint gold, the completion of his ultimate hat trick is almost there.
For that purpose, the 27-year-old Brabander came to Paris: gold in the team sprint, individual sprint and the keirin. Something he did not succeed in Tokyo: then he got stuck at bronze in the keirin. The final of the keirin tournament is at 13:32. There, ‘Harrie’s hat trick’ must be perfected.
Lavreysen beams after gold medal: ‘My fourth gold, unbelievable’
The quarter finals start for him and Jeffrey Hoogland at 11.29. There is no short coffee break for the Olympic spectator. The semi finals of the individual sprint for women start immediately after this. Hetty van de Wouw will be in action there.
Meanwhile, there is another track cyclist who has to peak – four times to be precise: Maike van der Duin. She is participating in the decathlon.
Basketball final
The afternoon will definitely have a golden edge. There is also plenty to enjoy in the other sports.
At 13:00 the women’s volleyball final between the United States and Italy will start. Half an hour later the men’s handball final between Germany and Denmark is on the program.
The men’s water polo final will be between Serbia and Croatia (2 p.m.), while the women’s teams of the United States and France will battle it out in the basketball final (3:30 p.m.). Can the American women follow the men’s good example?
The closing ceremony is at 8:55pm and then it’s fin, finito, the end of these Olympic Games in Paris. And we hope that everyone enjoyed the Games.
