Pilgrims came from Israel and other places to visit the place where the venerable Hasidic rabbi Nachaman of Breslov was buried in 1810.
Pilgrims sang prayers and danced as they enjoyed the festivities and said nothing, not even the war, would prevent them from participating in important religious events. Several pilgrims from Israel admitted that they heard the air raid sirens in the city, but this did not scare them, as they sometimes sound in Israel too.
The Hasidic New Year celebrations will run until Tuesday.
