Hashtag ADHD: How teens self-diagnose on social media – Health

Above her glows the asterisked caption, “Things I Didn’t Know Were ADHD-Related.” In quick succession, the alleged symptoms appear on the screen: listening to the same song over and over again, mood swings, scratching the skin, dissatisfaction with one’s own body and being plagued by self-doubt. The video has been viewed almost four million times on Instagram, and the same phrase is repeated over and over again in the comments: “I think I have ADHD.”
