The race, which is the first round for this category, within the competitions of the new season, which started from outside Lulu Island, and for a distance of more than 6 nautical miles, witnessed strong competition in all its stages, with the participation of 46 loads from different emirates of the country, amid great enthusiasm by the young sailors who They participated in the race, which was decided by the loader “Hashim” with the efforts of the sailors, and the ingenuity of the captain, Muhammad Al Marzouqi, who chose the appropriate path to reach the finish line first, in front of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club headquarters on the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
The loader “Lahoub” came in second place, owned by Abdullah Ali Jaber Al-Hammadi, and led by Nokhatha Muhammad Abdullah Saif Al-Marar, and came in third place, the loader “Sultan Al-Khair” owned by Adel Farouk Abdullah Taher Al-Hammadi, and led by Nokhatha Ali Nasser Salem Ahmed Al-Hamiri.
The 22-foot bearing race is the first stop for young sailors to enter the world of heritage racing. The competitions of these races hone the talents of young and novice sailors, and qualify them to participate in the larger races of the 43 and 60-foot categories in the future.
The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club is keen, every season, to organize a large number of heritage races, with the aim of strengthening efforts aimed at preserving this unique marine heritage, and passing it on to future generations in all its details.
Honoring the winners of the first three places, Majid Ateeq Al Muhairi, Director of the Marine Sports Department, Saeed Humaid Al Muhairi, General Supervisor of the Race, and Khalifa Al Rumaithi and Nasser Al Dhaheri, members of the Organizing Committee for the Race.
Khalifa Al-Rumaithi congratulated the winners, and thanked all the participants in the race for their efforts to be present in the event, and to make it a success in the best competitive and organizational terms, through full compliance with all instructions and regulations issued by the organizing committee of the race.
He added: The Sheikh Zayed Festival races, which the club organizes in all its categories as part of its participation in this great event over the past years, are an episode of an ancient heritage series presented by the festival in the best way that dazzles the followers of the festival, and the most beautiful show that pleases the people of the sea, as they celebrate their participation in the races.
He said: Heritage races have a specificity for sailors, as they carry the fragrant history, and give each participant a unique experience, through which he explores many secrets and treasures of the sea and the races, and learns about the value of this great heritage, and the 22-foot race finds a turnout from young people, who show enthusiasm Great, and willing to take on this challenge.
