Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees Hashim Djojohadikusumo said that the figure of PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, as a partner in the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR), did not absolutely have to be his cawapres Prabowo Subianto. Hashim said that currently PKB is open to propose who will be the leading figure in the coalition axis.
“I don’t think so, in the talks with Pak Muhaimin it shouldn’t be absolutely Pak Muhaimin. Those are the candidates approved and of course nominated by PKB,” said Hashim after the Prabowo Mania Declaration 08 at Joang 45 Building, Central Jakarta, Sunday (12/ 3/2023).
Hashim said Cak Imin’s candidacy as cawapres was not 100 percent absolute. According to him, if Cak Imin was Prabowo’s running mate, the declaration should have been made since last August.
“We catch that it doesn’t need to be 100 percent, it has to be Pak Muhaimin. If he had to, Pak Muhaimin already made a declaration in August last year. It’s still open now,” he said.
Previously, PKB emphasized that it would only push for Cak Imin for the 2024 elections. This was conveyed by the Chairman of the PKB DPP Daniel Johan.
“So far, PKB’s stance is firm that there are no other candidates from PKB besides Cak Imin, and that is the mandate of the congress and ijtima ulema that will become the guideline for all PKB cadres,” said Daniel Johan when contacted, Thursday (9/3).
He doesn’t want to speculate on who will accompany Prabowo. However, he again emphasized that the PKB was perpendicular to carrying Cak Imin. “Yes, PKB will be perpendicular to the congress decision,” he added.
