Hasek has to pay Sparta over 20 million. The jury confirmed the original verdict

Former football player of the Prague Sparta Martin Hašek is to pay the Letna club compensation in the amount of 800 thousand euros (over 20 million crowns) plus interest for unauthorized termination.

It was decided by a panel of arbitrators in the second instance proceedings, which today confirmed the verdict from the first instance. According to Hašek’s lawyer Markéta Vochoska Haindlová, the football player will turn to the CAS international sports arbitration.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for Würzburg in the second German league, got into a dispute with Sparta last January, when he refused to travel to Spain for training camps. After he did not agree on a transfer to Maccabi Haifa, he was transferred to the B-team. After further disagreements, he gave a unilateral resignation on March 12. However, the reasons for her were unjustified, the panel of arbitrators stated in the first instance in October, and subsequently, after Hašek’s appeal, he repeated the verdict even now in a second-instance and expanded five-member composition.

“The club’s management, together with the lawyer, will study the document thoroughly and consider the next steps,” Sparta said on its website today.

The tribunal also dealt with the player’s claim for payment of compensation in the amount of six million crowns. This request was not granted to Hašek either.
