Hasek has a new engagement. And a very tempting goal

He returns to a territory he knows very well. Football coach Ivan Hašek will lead the Lebanese national team. The former midfielder, coach of the Czech national team and chairman of the association will thus find himself in the Middle East again after a year without engagement, with a team that has never made a significant impact on an international scale. Now he will work with him for the premiere advance to the World Cup, which will take place next year in Qatar. The Lebanese Union announced the report on its website.

Fifty-eight-year-old Hasek began training in the region in 2005, when he led Al Wasl in the United Arab Emirates. He later coached Al Ahlí, with whom he won the title, Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Qatar in Qatar, and most recently in the UAE Emirates Club and Fujairah, where his one-year contract expired last summer.

Former national team captain Hašek added two more as a coach to five player titles in Sparta at the turn of the millennium. He later led Strasbourg, Kobe and St. Étienne, in 2009 he was elected chairman of the FACR. At the same time, he briefly coached the Czech national team, resigning as chairman after two years.

Lebanon, which ranks 93rd in the world, has so far been led by former national team captain Jamal Taha. He and his team advanced to the final stage of the World Cup qualification at the Asian Championships in 2023.
