The marriage between the toy industry and the world of films is not such a long river. While manufacturers, from Mattel to Lego, swear by the outlets that these extensions of their universe can provide them, Hasbro has just backtracked in its diversification strategy.
The American manufacturer announced, in parallel with the publication of its half-year results, the sale of its eOne Film & TV branch, which notably produces Peppa Pig cartoons as well as films around the Transformers or My Little Pony. It is the American studios Lionsgate who buy it for some 500 million dollars (458 million euros) and add some 6,500 titles to their catalog.
