Company last week Hasbro held a conference with investors, in which she answered some questions about the future Wizards of the Coast and Dungeons & Dragons.
According to company CEO Chris Cox, Dungeons & Dragons’ main business focus is given to digital technologies. Therefore, we can say that the problems of the film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at the box office did not affect Hasbro’s main plans.
These “digital technologies” allow us to take the Dungeons & Dragons brand beyond the boundaries of the board game and reach a much larger segment of the players. Cox believes that Baldur’s Gate III, which proved to be very popular and successful, will be the first step towards transforming tabletop RPGs into even richer gaming experiences and video games, with the participation of various partners of the company, including Running Studios.
Other than that, Cox previously mentioned that Hasbro is likely to make more money from Baldur’s Gate 3 than from all of its movie licenses over the past 5-10 years combined.
Recall that in March of this year, online broadcast of Dungeons & Dragonswhich was presented, including D&D MTB – a virtual game table for joint adventures with friends at a distance.
And in the January edition Bloomberg talked about how Wizards of the Coast canceled the development of at least five video games. A few days later, one of the studios mentioned in the material, Hidden Path Entertainmentdenied the statement, saying that work on her game is ongoing.
