FC Bayern need a replacement for Manuel Neuer for the second half of the season. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has now commented on this.
It is not yet clear who will be FC Bayern’s starting goalkeeper in the second half of the season. Manuel Neuer is out for the rest of the season with a broken leg and the German champions are looking for a replacement. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has now commented on the goalkeeper issue. He told “Sport Bild”: “It’s important to find the best solution for our team in the short term. Then we have to manage what’s in the summer.”
Salihamidzic also admitted: “We are looking at different scenarios. But of course Alexander Nübel would be an obvious solution. In the end, AS Monaco has the final say.”
“There will be no hasty strokes”
Nübel has a contract with FC Bayern until 2025, but was loaned to the French league. He wanted to train for the match and is therefore contractually linked to Munich on loan until June 2023. It is debatable whether he would prefer to return to Bayern Munich. According to “Bild”, Sven Ulreich should remain number two (more info here).
With Neuer not the only Bayern player to pick up an injury in recent weeks, Munich aren’t just looking for a goal on the market, as Salihamidzic said.
He added: “As you know, I’m not a fan of the winter transfer window. But a lot happened during the break in the World Cup, so I’m not ruling anything out. We’re trying to do the best for our team.” We will evaluate all options. First especially in the goalkeeper position, but not only there. There will be no quick shots.”
