Hasan Arat becomes the 35th President of Beşiktaş following extraordinary election decision

İSTANBUL

Following the extraordinary election decision taken by the current management in Beşiktaş, Hasan Arat became the President. As Çebi’s four-year presidency ends; Arat managed to become the 35th President of the club.

Before getting into the election results, let’s go back to yesterday (Saturday) morning.

Especially after completing the bad results in football, he has only completed a year in his second term. Ahmet Nur Çebi With the election decision taken by the President and his administration as a result of the campaign launched on social media, the ballot box appeared again after a year for the black and white community.

On the first day of the extraordinary congress, financial and administrative discharges were made in accordance with the program.

Frankly, the hall wasn’t very crowded. While the congress work, which started in the morning, continued, it was announced that the number of participants was around 2,500 with the announcement made by the Presidency of the Council at noon.

In fact, at one point, during the financial acquittal of the Çebi administration, one of the presidential candidates Serdal AdalıWhile those supporting ‘raised their hands in “yes” and approved the acquittal, Hasan Arat His supporters did not approve the acquittal by saying “no”. The superiority of the number of supporters of Adalı over Aratçılar during the discharge was considered as “a signal that Adalı would be ahead in the next day’s board of directors election”.

In fact, it was understood with the election results on the second day that this picture did not reflect the truth!

In addition, Adalı’s passing to Arat’s section and wishing him success was naturally a harbinger of a calm congress process.

During the acquittals, Mayor Çebi made a thank you speech to the participants. This was also a farewell speech.

need before Fikret Orman He personally announced that he was ending his 12-year career at Beşiktaş, both during his time as president and as president.

In his speech, Çebi asked for forgiveness from the members. “Please forgive me,” he said.

Ahmet President, a part of his speech was very striking:

“I do not forgive those who claim to be Beşiktaş fans and swear at me and my family through troll accounts, I am sorry.”

As the author of these lines, I followed the two-day congress process on site. After this statement of Çebi, let me convey some information I obtained from his close circle. The reason for this reaction of Çebi was a swear word received on his daughter’s phone.

It is stated that Çebi, who stated that immoral and beyond the limits of decency messages were previously sent to his close circle, himself and his relatives, decided to definitely withdraw from the presidency after sending this message, which he conveyed implicitly by saying “goodbye”.

Let me open a paragraph here. Not everyone has to like Çebi’s management. You may not be satisfied with its management. These are administrative processes and the results are revealed at the ballot box. Moreover, the same process occurred this time too. Arat and Adalı competed in the presidential election.

Moreover, it may not be possible to say the same thing from an administrative perspective. However, Çebi and his management managed to maintain a certain financial order in the club. Apart from football, he achieved success in amateur branches within the means available.

Ultimately, sending abusive messages to Çebi and his family, especially his daughters, instead of going to the polls to hold the unpopular administration to account is obviously not good for the future of the community. No one deserved such messages, and no one does.

The exemplary social media posts that exposed the extent of criticism, especially against the presidential candidate Adalı and his team, during the election period will be a trouble for every administration that comes to power from now on. This directional propaganda process should never have been allowed. However, unfortunately, “all kinds of propaganda are considered permissible in the race” and such behavior is approved, which is worrying for the future.

I close the parenthesis and continue.

The election on the second day was really important. Those who wanted to support the candidates in Arat and Adalı’s race reached the club’s gym in Akatlar from the early hours of the morning.

Let me underline one point. This election was the one with the largest participation in recent years.

More than 12 thousand congress members came from both Istanbul and other cities and took their place at the polls.

If we go back a little; For example, 4 thousand 900 members participated in the election in 2019, when Fikret Orman was elected president for the second time.

Likewise, approximately 4,500 members voted in the congress in 2012, when Orman was elected president for the first time, and around 6,000 congress members voted in the congress in 2013, in which he was elected president for the second time.

Around 8,600 members voted at the congress where Ahmet Nur Çebi was elected president for the first time in 2019, and around 4,400 members voted at the congress where he became a presidential candidate for the second time.

It was therefore remarkable that the number of people who came to the hall to participate in the election in which Arat and Adalı participated exceeded 12 thousand. It can even be called a record.

The general opinion in the hall was that if around 9 thousand members voted, Adalı would be elected, but as the number of participants increased, the needle would turn to Arat. That’s exactly what happened. The number of voting members exceeded ten thousand, paving the way for Arat to become president.

Arat, one of the candidates, has been preparing for the election by making visits and meetings across the country for more than a year.

Arat, who lost the presidential race against Serdar Bilgili for the first time in the 2000 election, lost against Bilgili again in the 2002 election. Arat became a candidate for the second time after 23 years.

Arat is well organized both on social media and in the Beşiktaş community. Especially after the extraordinary election decision of the Çebi administration, Arat, who was pumped up, dominated the hall where the election was held with his team. Arat’s team did not hesitate to welcome and accompany the members who registered to vote – especially women and elderly members – at the first entrance of the hall.

Former black and white football player and team captain Samet Aybaba Arat and his team also took part in welcoming the members.

Arat’s more professional election campaign against his rival Adalı brought him the presidential seat.

The other candidate, Adalı, did his best despite announcing his candidacy at the last minute.

Adalı lost the elections, first against Fikret Orman and then against Ahmet Nur Çebi.

Arat fans’ description of Adalı as “a continuation of the old team”, which was talked about in the Beşiktaş backstage, where former presidents Serdar Bilgili, Yıldırım Demirören, Fikret Orman and Ahmet Nur Çebi, who were against Arat, supported him, had a direct impact on the result. Even though he declared that he was “not a follower”, Adalı’s words did not have much impact on the congress.

It should not be forgotten that the leaders of the black and white community, seeing that Kocadağ could not stop Arat, took Adalı to the field with a last attack.

By the way, let me make a few small notes on this subject.

As you may remember; Chairman of the Council Board Tevfik Yamanturk‘s candidacy was brought to the agenda. While Yamantürk’s candidacy was being discussed, the current president Çebi did not make a clear statement about whether he would be a candidate or not. In your team Emre Kocadag‘s candidacy was on the agenda. Çebi’s signals of candidacy ensured that Yamantürk did not resign to maintain his current position. Meanwhile, Yamantürk’s application period for candidacy has passed due to Çebi not making his decision clearly.

While Yamantürk’s candidacy was left behind, Çebi announced that he would not be a candidate. Thus, Yamantürk was blocked. However, Yamantürk also informed his close circle that he did not want to be president for 1.5 years due to the regular election date.

After Arat was left alone in the race, Adalı suddenly found himself in the election race, under the pressure of the prominent members of the community. He didn’t have enough time. Thus, it was understood with the election results how much the promises of support given to him were kept.

One more note: Although people close to former President Orman, who was in the USA during the election, announced that they would support Adalı, the claim that he was on Arat’s side was frequently discussed in the hall.

This is the kind of election lobbying carried out by the parties.

Hasan Arat (Photo: AA)

According to the information I received; Approximately 22 thousand 800 members paid their dues and gained the right to vote. More than 12 thousand of these members came to the polls.

Hasan Arat, who was elected president, came out ahead in all 21 ballot boxes.

Arat’s list was orange and Adalı’s was white. Arat’s victory in the election with the “orange list” also brought to mind the “Orange Revolution” that took place in Ukraine in 2004 and caused the change of administration.

Another claim during the election was that the Çebi administration recruited approximately 13 thousand people during its four-year term! Big number, of course. Of course, there is no element of crime in this picture, but how ethical it is is debatable. There were such memberships in previous administrations, but never in such a high number.

The last president, Çebi, came two hours before the polls closed and cast his vote. Çebi was the only former president to go to the number 3 ballot box in the election, in which names such as Bilgili, Demirören and Orman, who have served as president in the last 23 years, did not vote.

One last sentence to the names organizing the elections. And to those who approve of such evil organisations.

This election had the highest turnout in presidential votes since 2000. I think the organizing committee could not foresee in the past that more than 8,500 members in 2019 would not be able to participate in the last election. The entrance to the hall was in complete chaos early in the morning.

The hall is already in the street. It greatly restricts the maneuvers of vehicles and the movement areas of people. The personnel assigned to the election worked diligently, but the interior of the hall was still unbecoming of Beşiktaş.

What could have been a fun environment turned into a nightmare due to poor organization. Everyone I knew complained about the election environment. I think the new administration will need to take precautions on this issue in the next first election.
