Has the sentence reduced by 100 years after five million protested

Aguilera-Mederos was sentenced earlier this month to 110 years in prison after being found guilty of 24 charges, including murder and reckless driving.

Over five million have signed on to one signature campaign to reduce his sentence. Kim Kardashian has too engaged themselves in the case.

Now the case has taken a new turn.

The governor of Colorado, Jared Polis, has reduced the sentence of the 26-year-old by 100 years, to ten years in prison. The governor called the original sentence of 110 years “unfair”, reports several media, including ABC News.

– This change reflects far more crime than 110 years, says Aguilera-Mederos’ lawyer, James Colgan, to ABC News after the reduction of the sentence became known.

– Mr Mederos will be eternally grateful to the millions of people who supported him.

It was on April 25, 2019 that the inexperienced truck driver drove along the highway near the city of Denver in the state of Colorado.

The then 23-year-old Aguilera-Mederos himself claims that he lost control of the truck when the brakes stopped working, and thundered into several cars queuing.

He tried to swing out into the shoulder of the road, but there was already another truck.

The crash caused a huge explosion. Four people lost their lives in the chain collision, where a total of 28 cars were affected.
