Mission personnel behind the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) spent about two weeks troubleshooting the glitch that first appeared on Dec. 7.
The outage caused a safe mode message to fail to send and delayed it from working.
The suspension of all operations is said to be a first for James Webb.
“This event caused several pauses in science operations for several days,” he wrote NASA on the official site.
However, JWST has come back under control. Normal operations resumed on Tuesday (12/20), just as the telescope celebrated its first anniversary in space.
“The observatory and instruments are all in good condition and not in danger, while the management system is faulty on board Webb is performing as intended to keep the hardware safe,” according to a NASA statement.
