Former handball player Gro Hammerseng-Edin (40) has resigned his position as sports commentator on TV 2.

– I am really proud of the job I have done and grateful that I got the chance. It has been extremely educational. There are buckets of talented people to learn from in the channel, Hammerseng-Edin says to VG.

It was Media 24 who first mentioned the case.

It was in February it became known that Hammerseng-Edin had got the job as a sports commentator for the channel. Thus, it was only half a year in the job for the former handball player.

She has resigned.

– I am also very proud and happy that I have followed my heart and made the choice I now know is the right choice for me. I myself am responsible for creating the life and everyday life I want. Job satisfaction and really enjoying what I do is extremely important to me, says the former handball player.

When she got the job in February, she described it as a dream job.

– I felt instinctively that this was a unique opportunity to use my voice to address important value issues and get involved in the development of Norwegian sports. A dream job in my eyes, she said to VG at the time.

– Jobs are a big part of life. I have had a workday all my life that I have loved. That’s how it should be. That’s why I chose to take action. This is how I am screwed together. I feel it in my stomach and in my heart when it’s right. And now it was not, she says now, but adds:

– Do not regret a second on the journey. I have grown, learned, experienced mastery and dared.

Hammerseng-Edin has previously been a handball expert for the channel. She has played 167 international matches for Norway.

Jansen Hagen tells VG that it is the channel’s football expert Mina Finstad Berg who will take over the role from September.

– It is unfortunate, but at the same time we have respect for the reasons Gro has stated. We hope that we can continue to collaborate with her in other roles in the future, says Jansen Hagen.

– What types of roles?

– As a handball expert, in program concepts for example or that she continues to write meaningful material that is not to order, but that comes from the heart. She has written posts that have been great and engaged, the sports manager answers.
