In April, the deputy LREM and former secretary of state announced her departure for the private sector. The extension of a mission to the government had made it possible to avoid a partial legislative process.–
Two months ago, Brune Poirson, former Secretary of State at the Ministry of Ecological Transition, sparked a double controversy. First by announcing, on April 6, to end his mandate as a member of Parliament to join the private sector (at the French hotel giant Accor). Then by participating in what some have interpreted as a “scheme” to avoid a partial legislative election in the third constituency of Vaucluse, which it had torn in 2017 from the National Front, under the label of LREM.
“Is this a fictitious report?”
Indeed, on April 2, a few days before his departure, the Prime Minister had prolonged until June a temporary mission that he had entrusted to him on October 5, 2020 for a maximum period of six months, so theoretically until April 5. A welcome extension, because beyond six months, a deputy on a temporary mission is replaced by his deputy elected at the same time as himself. This is not the case with a resignation for personal convenience, which leads to a by-election. Thanks to this extension, Brune Poirson could thus quit her mandate as a member of Parliament without leading to a new election, in a constituency at risk for LREM.
Dedicated to education for sustainable development, the mission officially completed on June 5, 2021. In Vaucluse, some of its opponents were surprised not to find any trace of the report, as reported by our colleagues from France Bleu. “Is this a fictitious report that we can dream about ? No one has seen the slightest line in this report ”, observed the deputy Les Républicains de Cavaillon, Jean-Claude Bouchet.
«Mission d’animation»
In fact, Brune Poirson did submit her report, from April 30, directly to Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education. The document of about fifty of pages (obviously put on line by the ministry after our request) relates to the “eco-delegates”, these college or high school students elected by their comrades to invest and defend subjects related to ecology. “The Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports wants me to devote most of my mission to a work of animation and mobilization of the rectorates in order to help the deployment and sustainability of the eco-delegated system “, introduced Brune Poirson in her report, before detailing some observations and recommendations. In the appendix, we can find in particular a (long) list of the people met within the framework of this mission, as well as the details of the webinars organized by academy.
Contacted, the former MP insists that it was a “Animation mission and not evaluation” and that therefore the report is secondary to the meetings and seminars organized. Work which took place from October 2020 to March 2021, according to the dates indicated in the file, that is to say before the official extension of the mission by the Prime Minister in early April.
