The Brooklyn Nets officially announced today that they acquired All-Star guard James Harden from the Houston Rockets through a multi-party deal. With the completion of the Harden transaction, more relevant details were also revealed. Danny Ainge, president of basketball operations of the Boston Celtics, revealed in an interview that the team has been bidding for Harden’s deal in the past few months, but Celtics is unwilling to satisfy the Rockets’ high bid.
Ainge admitted that Celtic wanted the All-Star guard when Harden asked to leave Houston, but this interest seemed to diminish as the 76ers and the Nets heated up trade negotiations.

According to an insider in the league, if Celtics want to get Harden, they need to provide including Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and picks as a bargaining chip, which Celtics is unwilling to pay.
