PT MNC Studios International Tbk (MSIN) from the MNC Group is building a production company that will become the center for making soap operas and dramas. The operational plan for the project called Movieland is targeted for mid-2022.
“Now the construction process has started. It is hoped that by the middle of next year it will start operating and we will start moving the shooting there,” said MSI Director Titan Hermawan, in a virtual Incidental Public Expose, Thursday (8/7/2021).
Titan revealed that in February 2021, MSI had conducted a groundbreaking as a sign that the construction of a project that was expected to be like Disneyland had begun. Movieland is located in the MNC Lido City area, West Java, Bogor on a land area of 21 hectares (Ha).
“Movieland is a production company with a complete ecosystem. Finally, in February 2021 this year, we have conducted a groundbreaking to mark the start of the Movieland project with an area of 21 hectares,” he explained.
Titan further describes how Movieland will function as a production area for a film or soap opera. He said all processes from pre-production, production to post-production will be carried out at Movieland.
He explained that because the Movieland area will be used for all film production processes, the buildings that will be built in the project will be multifunctional. Titan gave an example of a house that will be built into two to three different locations.
“The police station will also only have the front, the inside can be used for other functions. All corners of one building will have many functions, all projects can run simultaneously. Even though in one building, there are 4 faces,” continued Titan.
In addition to being used for the MNC Group, Titan revealed that this area will also be open to other parties. “It must be because we also open up opportunities for other parties to use Movieland,” he concluded.
Previously, the Executive Chairman of MNC Group, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, had conducted a groundbreaking for the construction of Movieland on February 13, 2021. Movieland is said to be the center of the world-class film and drama series industry in Indonesia. Hary said that currently there are no qualified facilities for outdoor production, especially for producing films or television dramas.
This project is predicted to be like Disneyland and Universal Studios. The project involving Donald Trump has been announced since September 2015.
In addition to housing, there will be open natural areas including areas set against the kingdoms of Indonesia. Movieland is also equipped with a backlot of various public facilities, such as hospitals, bus stops, schools, supermarkets to buildings like airports.
Other supporting facilities, sound stage covering an area of 1,500 square meters equipped with a giant green screen and water tanks and sets, specifically for production support. In addition, it is equipped with a dormitory or lodging for film or television crews.
“Everything is done end to end here, so that the quality of our production can be like Hollywood,” said Hary.
