The former movie mogul was found guilty last year of raping a European actress at a Beverly Hills hotel a decade ago. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison, a sentence he will serve after completing a first sentence of 23 years in prison issued by a court in New York.
But a Los Angeles jury deadlocked on charges of sexual assault against two other women, and prosecutors said they were unable to decide on a new trial.
Superior Court Judge Lisa Lynch granted the defense’s motion to dismiss the remaining charges.
During the lengthy trial against Weinstein, details were presented of methods used by the “Shakespeare in Love” producer to sexually assault young actresses who were trying to launch their acting careers in Hollywood.
Prosecutors said Weinstein exploited and abused women for years, long with impunity because of his then huge influence in the industry.
And his sexual scandals were revealed in 2017, which sparked the “Me Too” movement, which gave voice to hundreds of women to reveal sexual abuse they were subjected to in the workplace.
Dozens of women have accused Weinstein of sexual abuse against them.
The former producer maintains his innocence and has appealed his convictions in New York and Los Angeles.
