Harvey Weinstein has pleaded innocence at the start of a new trial of 11 charges of rape and sexual abuse. That happened Wednesday during a hearing in Los Angeles, where the former Hollywood film producer appeared in a wheelchair.

Weinstein, 69, was extradited to the US state of California on Tuesday for a new trial. He was previously sentenced to 23 years in New York state for similar offenses. If Weinstein is convicted again, he will spend the rest of his life in prison. Due to ill health, he had challenged the extradition.
Weinstein let his lawyers speak for him, but thanked the judge after wishing him good luck. Weinstein’s attorneys had filed a motion to dismiss three charges because they were said to be time-barred.
