Harvard President Claudine Gay Resigns Amid Plagiarism and Anti-Semitism Controversy

Harvard University President Claudine Gay will resignedafter it was subjected to on reviews because of accusations V plagiarism and her handling of anti-Semitism on campus, the prestigious university’s newspaper reported, AFP reported.

“Harvard President Claudine Gay will resign, which will end the shortest presidency in university historyaccording to a person familiar with the situation,” the Harvard Crimson student newspaper reported.

Claudine Gay has been criticized in recent months since they came out reportsin which it is claimed that she did not properly cite scientific sources in his academic works.

The latest allegations were published anonymously in a conservative online publication.

She also became object on reviews after refusing to say unequivocally whether calling for genocide against the Jews violated Harvard’s ethics code during his testimony before Congress alongside the heads of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania last month.

The university’s governing body, the Harvard Corporation, supported it after her appearance before Congress, but criticized her response to the attack in Israel on 7
October as the university community responded to the war in Gaza.

More than 70 legislatorsincluding two Democrats, called for her resignation, and a number of high-profile Harvard alumni and donors called for her departure.

Nevertheless, more than 700 Harvard faculty had signed a letter supporting Gay.

Claudine Gay, 53, was born in New York in a family of Haitian immigrants and is a professor of political science. In July, she became the first black president of the 368-year-old Harvard University in Cambridge, near Boston.
