Harun Masiku Case, MAKI Will Submit Pretrial Again

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) will file another pre-trial lawsuit against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the Harun Masiku case.

MAKI Coordinator, Boyamin Saiman, quoted from ANTARA, stated that the lawsuit aims to ensure that the suspect in the alleged gift or promise, Harun Masiku, can be tried.

According to Boyamin, this case has been dragging on and the suspect has not been arrested.

MAKI plans to file a new lawsuit within the next two weeks to a month.

Boyamin said that the lawsuit would use arguments similar to the Century Bank case which MAKI previously won.
Even though the previous pretrial lawsuit was rejected by South Jakarta District Court Single Judge Abu Hanifah, MAKI is still trying to get Harun Masiku to be tried, even using the “in absentia” method (without the presence of the defendant).

A trial “in absentia” is a trial process without the presence of the defendant. Harun Masiku, who was named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in connection with the alleged giving of gifts or promises related to the appointment of elected DPR RI members, has always been absent from summons by KPK investigators and has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 17 2020.
