Hartman: ”My ambition is to stay at Feyenoord 1”

Quilindschy Hartman is proud to have made his unofficial debut for Feyenoord last weekend. Despite a defeat, the 20-year-old left wing defender looks back positively on the game against Olympique Lyon.

“It is certainly a beautiful moment. It is of course always a shame when you lose, but for me a very beautiful day”, says Hartman in conversation with Feyenoord TV. “It’s something I’ve been working towards for a long time. I have been playing in the youth of Feyenoord for thirteen years now. It is an absolute award.”

“Last year was a tough year for me with knee surgery. When I look at where I am now, I can only be proud of myself. Once I was on the field, you just play football. This morning it was a slightly different preparation than usual because I knew I was going to make minutes. You feel it in your gut and people who message you.”

Hartman now hopes for more minutes in the team of trainer Arne Slot. ”I was last man against Lyon, because Gernot was injured. I can also handle that myself and that’s fine. I definitely see opportunities this season. When I look at how quickly they got me back on track since I got fit again. Left legs in the back are scarce and I think I have a chance.”

John de Wolf was standing in front of his substitute neighborhood to chat with Hartman. ‘What does he say then? Eat him and just do your thing. Keep calm and play football. That went well. I was also able to go forward a few times, maybe a goal. Unfortunately that was not the case. My ambition is to stay at Feyenoord 1. Preferably all year round. See where I can make my minutes.”
