Harsh Goenka praises the tiny island of New York

President of the RPG group, Harsh Goenka enjoys sharing interesting anecdotes from around the world on social media. The billionaire is often seen posting witty tweets and words of wisdom on Twitter. A regular on the microblogging site, Goenka’s interactive shares often draw attention and conversation to her handle from Twitter users.

Recently, he shared his take on a newly built public park in New York City, which sounds like an interesting concept for Goenka. As usual, while posting on the New York attraction, the entrepreneur gave his own advice. He shared photos of a free public park pier called Little Island built in the largest park on the Hudson River. The place has been open to the public since May offering residents as well as tourists a unique green space, rare for The Big Apple.

In a tweet, Goenka wrote: “Little Island, a new free public park pier recently opened to the public in New York City that will host cultural and educational programs, much of it free. Great concept! Every city deserves a park like this!

Little Island is designed to offer views of the Hudson River on one side and the city on the other. The meticulously constructed topography of the park gives the impression of being in its own little world. The Gotham Space, hovering over the famous Hudson River, offers a splendid view of Manhattan’s jagged skyline. It leads guests to a space supported by tulip-shaped columns – where they can enjoy live performances, hike short trails, and have a picnic on a grassy slope.

Little Island’s distinct outdoor spaces rest on the 132 tulip pots, placed on unique stilts of varying heights. Each tulip’s shape has a different weight load capacity to hold soil, trees, and lawns. The original piers of Pier 54 provide habitat for aquatic life. Waist-high flowers abound, Little Island is designed by Heatherwick Studio in London. The entire place is dotted with square tiles that jingle like bells when tapped with their feet.

Developed over a decade, the park was funded by the family foundation of American businessman Barry Diller and designer Diane von Furstenberg.
