London: Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane, famous for the “Harry Potter” films, has died. He was 72 years old.
Coltrane’s agent Belinda Wright confirmed the death on Friday at a hospital in Scotland. However, the cause of death is unclear.
Coltrane became famous thanks to the 90s thriller series “Crackery”. He won three British Academy Television Awards for Best Actor for his role as a detective in the film.
He also excelled in the role of Harry Potter mentor, Hagrid. Coltrane appeared in all eight Harry Potter films released between 2001 and 2011.
Also notable was his role as boss of the Russian mafia in the James Bond films “Golden Eye” and “The World is Not Enough”. His wife is Rona Gemmell. Spencer and Alice are children.
