Myths and legends have already spoken of a new Harry Potter role-playing game. A fresh leak via Reddit is now giving speculation new food.
There is water again on the rumor mill, which says that a new role-playing game for Harry Potter is in the works. Via Reddit a post has appeared that is said to be from someone who works with Warner Bros. on advertising material. Or just from someone who knows someone who has heard something from someone. You know how to enjoy everything with caution. However, the information from the leak sounds quite concrete.
Accordingly, the game will run under the title Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy and be developed by Avalanche Software, which should have been working on it since 2017. Apparently, this time you are not playing good Harry, but are working your way through as a student at Hogwarts until you graduate. You can freely adapt your character, both in terms of appearance and gender as well as other affiliations, for example as a Muggle or half-breed. Even more mature topics like romances are not excluded.
Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy is said to play after the events of the novels. Instead of dealing with Lord Voldemort, you are dealing with a Death Eater and his vassals. Rivalries with other fellow students aka magicians are also said to play a major role, although a system similar to the Nemesis system consisting of shadows from Mordor is not excluded. The game world should consist of several hubs (including Hogwarts and Hogsmead), each with their own NPCs and quests. There are also tactically oriented battles with energy management, as well as skill trees with five branches, along with some spells that are hidden behind good or bad points.
Even a potential release date is given, so the game should be released before August 2021, probably in June. But as I said, all of these are still leaks and rumors. An official announcement is still pending.
