Coach England national team Gareth Southgate welcome the move Harry Kane to Bayern Munich this season. Because that way the 30-year-old striker can focus on defending The Three Lions in the European Cup without the distraction of speculation about his future.
“From a selfish point of view, for England, it’s great to see its future secured in the next few years,” Southgate said, quoted by The Guardian.
“Because this has the potential to be a distraction for players. But it’s good if he goes and appears at his new club. He has stayed at one club for too long.”
“Going through a change means you have to impress new team-mates, new staff, new supporters and also experience adapting to a new country. There are lots of positives to be had.”
Southgate also has no problem if Kane leaves the Premier League which is considered the best league in Europe. Because Bayern is a strong team in Germany, and can provide a better competitive experience than when defending Tottenham Hotspur.
“I’m sure he’ll be brilliant. I’m not sure he’ll be a better player, but maybe there are some aspects of the mentality that this transfer could improve. Because the older you get, the less you can improve.”
“The Bundesliga is a little different to other leagues, they rely more on transitions. There is an intensity to it. We will have all the data from training sessions and matches, so we can monitor that closely.”
“The big difference for Harry this year is he’s going to have a lot of games dominated by his team, playing more in the final third, so he’s going to be playing in the opposition box a lot more than in the last few seasons,” Southgate explained.
Southgate has the right to be confident in England’s chances of qualifying for Euro 2024, because they are on a good track to qualify for next year’s European Cup. They continued to win in the first four qualifying matches, and now lead Group C with 12 points.
