London –
Harry Kane just carved out a nick though Tottenham Hotspur disappointing finish. Kane’s future continues to be in question.
The England international striker scored two goals to win Tottenham at Leeds United headquarters 4-1 in the last match of the Premier League. Thus, Kane has recorded a total of 30 goals in 38 appearances in the competition this season.
This achievement made Kane the first player in Premier League history to score at least 30 goals in two different seasons. In the first, Kane scored 30 goals to lead Spurs to a third-place finish in 2017-18.
Sharpness Harry Kane this season only lost to the young bomber Manchester City, Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker scored 36 goals in the Premier League, breaking the one-season record set by Mohamed Salah (32 goals).
Nevertheless, Kane’s excellent performance was not enough to keep Tottenham Hotspur finishing at the top. The Lilywhites only collected 60 points so they had to settle for sitting in 8th place in the Premier League final standings, the club’s worst finish in 14 seasons.
This inevitably helped create speculation about the future of Harry Kane. The 30-year-old striker’s contract expires in the summer of 2024, and has been heavily linked with moves to Manchester United and Real Madrid. However, the speculation was muted.
“No, no. It’s part of being a footballer especially when you are at your best,” Kane told BT sports.
“So far I’ve only focused on this season and trying to help the team as best as I can. So far it’s been a disappointing season anyway. We can’t let this win seal it. There’s a lot to improve.”
“A club of this size shouldn’t finish eighth and we need to go away to enjoy the holidays and see how we can improve.” Harry Kane.
