London received the most attractive match of the weekend in England. By date 22 of the Premier League, Tottenham beat Manchester City 1-0 and, indirectly, he gave a hand to his neighbor Arsenal, the English league leaders, who had lost to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, in the debut of Sean Dyche as manager (replacing Frank Lampard). The Spurs, who finished with 10 due to the expulsion of Argentine Cristian Romero, celebrated at home thanks to the stellar appearance of their gunner: Harry Kane.
In the 15 minutes of the game, Tottenham’s number 10 takes a shot, after an assist from the Danish Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and defeats goalkeeper Ederson for the 1-0, the only goal of the commitment.
Kane has converted countless times, however this Sunday’s goal is not just any. He became the all-time leading scorer for his squad, at age 29. He reached 267 goals in 416 games played, surpassing the mark of the deceased Jimmy Greaves, who totaled 266 in 379 appearances, a record that stood for 53 years. Complete the historic podium for Londoners Bobby Smith, who scored 208 times, playing 317 games.
Within the top 10 scorers of the club, there is another active player. This is the Korean Heung-Min Son, who accumulates 139 in 353 matches.
This is not the only thing that Harry Kane achieved against the Citizens. He also reached 200 goals for the Premier League, which establishes him as the third most scoring footballer in the highest British category (since its current name). He was eight scores away from reaching Wayne Rooney, who occupies the second position in the ranking (208). number one is Alan Shearer. The former Blackburn and Newcastle striker has 260 on his account.
On the top 10 list top scorers of the Premier League, there are two that are not English. One is Sergio Agüero, Manchester City icon, fifth with 184. The other is Frenchman Thierry Henry, Arsenal idol, in seventh place with 175 hits.
There is another mark that Harry Kane has close at hand: being the top scorer for the England team. To date, he is tied with Wayne Rooney, both with 53 points. The last one was against France, for the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Qatar. The difference is that the current captain of the Three Lions team did so in 80 games, which gives an average of 0.66 goals per game. For his part, Rooney scored them in 120 (0.44 average). Just one is enough for ‘Hurricane’ to be alone at the top.
With this Sunday’s victory, Tottenham is in fifth place in the Premier with 39 units, one away from entering the Champions League qualifying zone. The fourth in the table is the surprising Newcastle. In the fight for the title, Arsenal leads with 50, five more than Manchester City.
