“Harry” gives up location – surprise in Rossatz: new landlord wanted for “rafting business”.

“I have been allowed to invite people to many openings, but I have never done this before,” writes Schindlegger in the invitation to the “Zusperrfest”. His six-month engagement in Rossatz ends at the end of October.

Schindlegger: “Year-round operation is difficult!”

“It’s a great location,” says the Krems restaurateur in a NÖN phone call. The terrace and garden with a view of Dürnstein were a hit, “but in the long run it wasn’t what I expected.” Structurally, it was also difficult to realize the intended year-round operation in the house, which was built as a wine tavern. “Strictly speaking, rafting doesn’t fit into my concept, I’m concentrating on Krems,” says the operator of nine restaurants. “My people did a great job”; Schindlegger promises a “good job until the last day”.

Brandner already has some interested parties

The owner of the rafting company, Wolfram Mosser-Brandner from the shipping company of the same name, was “surprised” by his tenant’s decision. “We had basically talked about it for a long time and I was only briefly informed about the termination.” When asked whether the Brandner company would now run the restaurant itself or look for a tenant again, the owner said: “Yes, we do are looking – but it won’t be difficult. There are some interested parties.”

Mosser-Brandner: “Year-round operation is possible!”

The fact that you could also run the house yourself is also an option, says Mosser-Brandner. Is it possible to operate a restaurant like this all year round in the Wachau? “Yes, that is possible,” he is also open to ideas for innovations. “Improvements can always be made. We have already invested a lot to ensure that we can run a good kitchen.” Will we be able to find a restaurateur who will start the business during the lean winter season? It will be exciting …
