Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan paid a surprise visit to Queen Elizabeth II in London on Thursday, a spokesperson for the couple has heard.

According to several British media outlets, Harry and Meghan stopped in London on their way to the Invictus Games in The Hague, where the pair paid a visit to the Queen at Windsor Castle. Elizabeth, Harry’s grandmother, will be celebrating her 96th birthday in a few days.
Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, hadn’t been together in the UK since they split from the British royal family 2.5 years ago and settled in North America.
At the end of March, Harry was still absent from a ceremony honoring his late grandfather, Prince Philip. A spokesperson for the couple said Harry and Meghan hoped to visit the Queen soon. The festivities will start in June on the occasion of her 70th anniversary.
According to British tabloids, Harry and Meghan also met Harry’s father, Prince Charles. It was not disclosed whether the couple also took the children Archie (3 years) and Lilibet (10 months) with them. Before their departure to Europe, it was reported that they would not be traveling with them. The Queen has not yet seen her great-granddaughter, named after her own pet name, in person.
