Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Elton John and Lizzo took to the stage on Saturday to call on people to donate money for a fair distribution of corona vaccines. Harry and Meghan addressed the physically present New York audience and viewers who followed the event online or on television. “My wife and I believe that where you were born should not determine your chances of survival,” the prince said. “Certainly not if there are treatments that ensure that you are safe.”Equal treatment for everyone in the world; that’s the message the stars sounded at the Global Citizen Live event.
The worldwide event kicked off on Saturday evening and lasted until Dutch time on Sunday evening. From Paris, New York, London and Los Angeles, among others, all kinds of performances take place to draw attention to climate change, famine and equality in the distribution of vaccinations. The previous Global Citizen benefit in May raised more than $125 million.
