“Harry and Meghan Chased by Paparazzi in New York, Sparking Memories of Princess Diana’s Tragedy”

LONDON – The worst nightmares of Harry have materialized: he and Meghan would have been chased by car in New York by the paparazzi with “almost catastrophic” consequences. A scenario that seems to repeat what saw the death of Princess Diana in Paris 26 years ago: a tragedy that the prince his son she always attributed to the photographers and journalists who hunted her down everywhere and that that fateful evening they had set out in pursuit of him.

The news of the accident involving Harry and Meghan, who were in the company of her mother, Doria Ragland, was given by their spokespersonaccording to which the “non-stop hunting” would last over two hours and would have caused the “almost collision” with other cars, pedestrians and police patrols: “If being a public figure is accompanied by a certain level of interest on the part of the people – commented the spokesman – this should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.”. And therefore, he concluded, “the dissemination of these images, given the way in which they are obtained, encourages highly intrusive practices that are dangerous for all involved”.

Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Doria Ragland were involved in a terrifying paparazzi car chase involving six blacked out vehicles in a chase that could have been fatal.

Yet in this story there are too many “almost” and many “maybe”: the fact would go back to yesterday eveningat the end of the ceremony in which Meghan received the award given to “Women with a Vision”, the Dukes of Sussex’s first public appearance together in quite some time. But the news was only given today by their spokesperson, without the US media noticing anything: and at first the NYPD did not confirm what happened.

Not that nothing happened, of course, but the prince Harry is a man devoured by his nightmares and obsessionsready to give substance to ghosts too: and this also explains the fact that in London he is involved in no less than four legal cases against the newspapers, guilty in his view of all the wrongdoings of this world, plus two more against the British government itself, guilty of having denied him the escort and therefore to have made his visits to London, in his opinion, no longer safe.

On the other hand it should be noted that after the coronation of King Charleswhere Harry has been relegated to the third row and snubbed by all, the risk for the Sussexes is to slip into irrelevanceloathed in Britain and ignored in America, where their narrative seems to matter less and less. So their effort is to remain the center of attention and fuel curiosity of the media, despite having now run out of cartridges: and the role of victim is one that they found particularly congenial right from the start.
