Harrison Ford has never made a secret of the fact that he has absolutely nothing to do with his iconic “Star Wars” role. When a journalist asked him about Han Solo returning, he expressed his dislike with harsh words…

Harrison Ford has played a variety of iconic roles throughout his career spanning more than five decades. But when you think of the 81-year-old, you naturally think of two characters to whom he has returned again and again over the decades: the whip-wielding archaeologist Indiana Jones – and of course Han Solo from the “Star Wars” franchise.
Ford played the smuggler and Chewbacca’s sidekick not only in the original trilogy, which was made between 1977 and 1983, but also in the late sequel “The Force Awakens” from 2015. There is a surprise scene in the ninth episode “The Rise of Skywalker”. The actor still allows himself to be persuaded, even if he could hardly care less about the resulting mystery.

But it’s no secret that Ford has little use for his popular role. While filming the first part, he asked director George Lucas to simply let Han Solo die – which the “Star Wars” creator, to the relief of many fans, did not agree to. Despite his reservations, Ford was seen not only in the two sequels, but also in the “Star Wars Holiday Special” from 1978, in which Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) also returned to their “Star Wars “-roles slipped.
When asked by a journalist whether Ford would appear in a hypothetical TV special surrounding the release of The Force Awakens, the Fugitive star replied unequivocally: “I’d rather kill myself.” Here you can watch the moment yourself:
At the end of “The Force Awakens,” his longed-for wish was fulfilled: the death of Han Solo. Ford’s comment (on Jimmy Kimmel Live): “I fought for it to happen for 30 years and finally I took him down.”
Ford and Han Solo will no longer be friends in this life, which of course doesn’t affect the fans’ love for his character. If you want to know what aspect of “Star Wars” the Hollywood veteran really hates, you can read more here:
