Harris’ surprise lead in Iowa two days before the US elections –

Telesur

The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, announced that she has already cast her vote in advance by mail, and although the figures are still close, some polls project an advantage for the Democrat.

This Sunday the candidate made several stops in the state of Michigan, one of the seven critical enclaves for victory, while Republican Donald Trump planned to visit Pennsylvania, North Carolina (where both opponents were this Saturday) and Georgia.

According to a poll of likely Iowa voters, conducted by ABC News/Ipsos over the weekend in that state traditionally considered a Republican stronghold, Harris has 49 percent support compared to 46 percent in the case of the Republican. Also, a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll reflects a surprise victory for the Democrat, who has 47 percent support compared to 44 percent for the former president. This new poll appears after one carried out in September, which showed the Republican with a 4-point advantage over Kamala Harris.

This is a state that gave the Republican solid victories in both 2016 and 2020, which is why the current turn has made headlines.

According to the survey, women, mainly older adults or those who consider themselves politically independent, are drivers of change. The Republican maintains leadership over his base of support: men, evangelicals, rural residents and people without a college degree.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump was at a rally in Pennsylvania, another enclave where the results of the presidential elections are being bet. Regarding the survey that indicates Harris’ advantage in Iowa, the Republican responded: “It was done by one of my enemies,” and charged again against the electoral bodies themselves: “The polls are very corrupt.”

Line he maintained for a direct criticism of Harris: “I am competing against a totally corrupt person, against a corrupt machine called the Democratic Party,” said the candidate for the Republican Party.

In that sense, during his speech at Lancaster airport, the former president told his supporters that the elections are being stolen, a statement he also made before the last elections were held.
