Harris on Trump’s bizarre campaign appearance: “I hope he’s okay”

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump played music during a campaign appearance. He rocked up and down to do it. “He stood on stage for 30 minutes and danced,” says US President Biden and asks: “What’s wrong with this guy?”

After Donald Trump’s bizarre campaign appearance in Pennsylvania, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her campaign team again questioned her Republican rival’s mental health and fitness for the presidency on Tuesday. Her campaign team said Trump appeared “lost, confused and frozen” during the appearance on stage, which ended in a music show.

Trump gave his speech in an overheated hall, and two of his supporters suffered a faint attack – whereupon the evening’s organizers played the “Ave Maria”, which is often played at funerals. The whole event was later converted into a music event.

The first half hour of Monday night’s meeting in suburban Philadelphia went smoothly, with Trump answering friendly questions from supporters while South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem moderated the event. Then there were two interruptions because two trailers collapsed and needed medical attention.

As a result, the 78-year-old stopped asking questions and instead played his favorite music for more than half an hour while standing on stage and moving slightly back and forth. At the end, as is often the case at Trump’s appearances, the Village People’s 1978 disco hit “YMCA” was played.

The Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris later wrote ironically on the online service

Biden: “What’s wrong with this guy?”

US President Joe Biden also made fun of the Republican presidential candidate after the bizarre appearance. “He stood on stage and danced for 30 minutes,” Biden said at an event in Philadelphia. “I’m serious. What’s wrong with that guy?” Biden also called Trump a “loser” and immediately followed up: “He’s a loser in everything he does.”

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung, however, said that “something very special” happened between Trump and his supporters that evening. Trump himself also defended the event in the hotly contested state of Pennsylvania. “It was incredible!” he wrote on his online service Truth Social.

Three weeks before the US presidential election on November 5th, Harris is increasingly focusing on Trump’s age and health. She also spoke about this at the end of a radio interview on Tuesday: “I’m going to point out what everyone knows, which is that the people who worked most closely with Donald Trump when he was president (…) all said that “That he is dangerous and unfit to hold office,” Harris said.
