Harris maintains her lead over Trump and voters are pessimistic – Diario La Página –

Democratic Vice President of the United States, <a href="https://www.world-today-news.com/donald-trump-whats-behind-the-us-presidents-baltimore-attack/" title="Donald Trump: What's behind the US President's Baltimore attack”>Kamala Harris, maintained a marginal lead of 46% over former Republican President Donald Trump’s 43%, with an electorate that believes the country is on the wrong path, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Harris’ lead in the six-day poll, which closed on Monday, differs little from her 45% to 42% lead over Trump in a Reuters/Ipsos poll a week ago, reinforcing the view that the The race is extraordinarily close just two weeks before the November 5 elections.

Both polls showed Harris with a lead within the margin of error, and the latter with a lead of just 2 percentage points using unrounded figures.

The new poll showed that voters have an unfavorable view of the state of the economy and immigration, and generally favor Trump’s approach to these issues.

About 70% of registered voters in the survey said the cost of living was going in the wrong direction, while 60% said the economy was headed in the wrong direction and 65% said the same about immigration policy.

Voters also said the economy and immigration, along with threats to democracy, were the country’s most important issues. When asked which candidate had a better approach to the problems, Trump led on the economy – 46% to 38% – and on immigration by 48% to 35%.

Immigration also ranked as the No. 1 issue when respondents were asked what the next president should focus on most in his first 100 days in office. 35% chose immigration, 11% chose income inequality, and 10% chose healthcare and taxes.

However, Trump came out poorly on the question of which candidate was better at tackling political extremism and threats to democracy, with Harris leading 42% to 35%, who also came out on top. in abortion and healthcare policy.

The poll gave signs that voters – particularly Democrats – could be more enthusiastic about this year’s elections than the November 2020 presidential election, when Democrat Joe Biden defeated Trump.

About 79% of registered voters in the survey — including 87% of Democrats and 84% of Republicans — said they were “completely sure” they would vote in the presidential election. The share of respondents sure to vote rose from 74% in a Reuters/Ipsos poll from Oct. 23-27, 2020, when 74% of Democrats and 79% of Republicans said they were sure to vote.

4,129 adults across the country participated in the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, including 3,481 registered voters. Some 3,307 of those surveyed considered themselves the most likely to go to the polls on Election Day. Among these likely voters, Harris had a 3 percentage point lead over Trump, 48% to 45%.

The new poll had a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
