For Kamala Harris, everything seems to be going well just a few months before the 2024 US election. Joe Biden could only dream of her poll numbers and betting odds.

Washington, DC – Kamala Harris is currently riding a wave of success. The Democratic presidential candidate for the November election is much more popular with the American electorate than incumbent Joe Biden. At least that is the result of the latest polls and betting odds.

On the betting platform Polymarket, Harris’ chances of winning against Republican candidate Donald Trump were determined to be 46 percent on Tuesday evening (August 6). With this odds, the current vice president surpassed the highest value previously achieved by US President Biden when he was still running for a second term (April: 45 percent).

Just recently, the Democrat broke a poll record set by her boss in the White House.

Even though the race for the White House remains competitive, this development is a sign and confirmation for Harris. By comparison, before he withdrew from the presidential candidacy in July, Biden’s odds had plummeted to a minimum of seven percent, which was tantamount to insignificance.

And: The betting odds are only one indication of the Democrat’s current rise. But this is also underpinned by the latest poll results (as of August 7). Here too, Harris leads the field ahead of Trump and the independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Junior, the nephew of former US President John F. Kennedy.

This slight euphoria will probably serve Harris and her newly nominated vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz well on the campaign trail. Although there has been a tailwind in the so-called “swing states” recently, Harris and her campaign team still have a lot of work to do there. (pls)
