Harris and her vice presidential candidate will begin tour on Tuesday – Diario La Página – 2024-08-06 19:40:26

Vice President and Democratic candidate for the White House, Kamala Harris, will begin a tour of the seven states that will be key in these elections tomorrow, Tuesday night, after clearing up the mystery about who her running mate will be.

According to campaign sources, Harris will begin the official tour with her vice presidential candidate immediately, ahead of the US elections in November, after her nomination as the Democratic candidate is made official on Monday. On Friday, Harris obtained the minimum number of votes from delegates necessary, and the period to declare preferences is expected to close today.

With that done, Harris will only have to announce who her running mate will be, something that appears to be being decided between Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

On Tuesday afternoon, Harris and her vice presidential candidate will begin a tour that will start that same day in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and continue to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Detroit, Michigan, Durham, North Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

“This tour will allow the vice president and her running mate to speak directly to voters in their communities and expose the contrast between our ticket and that of (Donald) Trump,” a Democratic source told EFE.

“Donald Trump and JD Vance threaten the rights and freedoms of Americans, would hurt the middle class, and increase costs for families. Vice President Harris is fighting for a future that strengthens our democracy, protects reproductive freedom, and ensures that all people have the opportunity to not only survive, but thrive,” she added.

This marathon of rallies and meetings with voters will focus on the so-called “blue wall” of the Midwest and the Sun Belt of the Southern states.

With US President Joe Biden’s decision not to run for re-election and the majority of the Democrats’ support for Harris, the vice president has managed to significantly reduce the advantage that Republican Donald Trump had in most of the decisive states.

With this tour, Harris hopes to shore up or improve the situation in the polls, which have quickly put these seven decisive states back on the table.
