Harri Syrjänen tells Finns’ worst food-related mistakes.
Top chef Harri Syrjänen reveals to Iltalehti Traitors– program’s press conference, which is the worst possible spice that can be found in many Finns’ kitchens.
The answer didn’t have to wait long, because he shot his answer like “off the pharmacy shelf”.
– Flavoring salt. If you cook and make the food yourself from start to finish, then a good person should not put flavoring salt in it, because that will turn the food into ready-made food.
Syrjänen explains his answer by saying that flavoring salt brings the same industrial taste that is found in store-bought ready meals.
The story continues after the pictures.

“Permissible” side dishes
However, the chef does not knock out all ready meals. He has previously revealed to Iltalehti that the best food product is duck legs in duck fat.
– By far the best dish. It’s easy to make and can handle even a more challenging party. Parsley potatoes fried in duck fat on the side and the dish is ready, he said in 2022.
According to the chef, pea soup is also a “permissible” side dish that you can buy in the store in case of a bad day.
– If I want pea soup, I can’t bear to soak the peas. Mustard on top, sour crumb on the side and the dish is ready. If there are western neighbors in the village, we put punch in a glass, he said.

Kape Aihine also dulls flavoring salt
Chef Kari “Kape” Aihinen has also recently stopped using flavoring salt Capture in the kitchen in the program. His and Syrjää’s opinion regarding flavoring salt is very much in line with each other.
– If you use only flavoring salt and barbecue seasoning, they will be the first to go in the black sack, Aihinen teased.
According to Aihinen, there are only two necessary spices, which are sea salt and black pepper.
