Cartagena’s Harold Ramírez, acting as designated hitter, had two hits in the victory of the Tampa Bay Rays eight runs for one against the Detroit Tigers. Shane McClananhan scored the win while Beau Briske took the loss.
Kevin Kiermaier, Brett Phillips and Randy Arozarena homered in the win for Tampa Bay, while Ji-Man Choi drove in two runs. Ramírez had two hits in four official at-bats, and scored one run.
The Cartagena raised his batting average to .307, connecting in 23 at-bats of 75 he has had in 27 games. Ramírez has four doubles, 10 runs scored, eight RBIs, five walks, and he’s been struck out 9 times.
Tampa Bay is second in the American League East, with 22 wins and 15 losses, five and a half games behind the New York Yankees, who are leaders. Tonight they will finish the series at home against Detroit, and rest this Thursday, to start a three-game series away from home against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
